Remembering Christ.

This is a time of year when many people are focusing on the birth of Jesus Christ. It is very easy in this busy world to lose our focus of spiritual matters and get caught up with the hustle and bustle of daily life. So it is nice to see that, at least in this part of the world, society still slows down (a little at least) at this time of year to give time for family and for thinking about Jesus.
As I think about the birth of Jesus I can not help but continue my thoughts to the reason why He left heaven to come to this earth. In Phil. 2:5-8, Paul recounts how Jesus took on the form of man in order to serve us in giving his life on the cross. "For when we where yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly", Rom 5:6. And He still continues to serve us as a high priest who can sympathize with our trials, Heb 4:14-16. So let us remember that He is still our Savior, and will continue to be until our time on this Earth has past.
It is also the beginning of a new year; a time when many people take a look at their activities and habits with the intention of making resolutions. These resolutions are intended to better ourselves or to continue in good practises. One aspect of our lives we must look at is our focus on spiritual matters and our remembrance of Christ's sacrifice. It is wonderful to take the time in this season to focus on Christ, but is a couple times a year enough?
Let us remember the birth, life, sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And let us resolve ourselves to focus on these things not only during this time of the year but every day of our lives. It will help us focus on those thing spiritual and will cause us to be thankful to Christ and to God with every remembrance of these things.
